Grounded: Where to Find Ant Eggs | Game Rant

Survival crafting games are nothing new. For a while, games like Ark Survival and The Forest were all the rage. Now Obsidian, creator of The Outer Worlds, has thrown its hat in the ring with the tongue-in-cheek Grounded.

Taking inspiration from a mix of the above games and Honey, I Shrunk the KidsGrounded lets players take control of shrunken kids. Trapped in a backyard, players must work together or alone to survive through scavenging, hunting, and crafting. There is a story to the game, and it's up to players to unravel the mystery and re-grow themselves.

Grounded just entered Early Access, and is a smash hit so far. As with all crafting games, materials are key, and a few of these are more valuable than others. Ant eggs are one resource in high demand, but getting them can be tricky. Here's how to find ant eggs and retrieve them safely.

Anyone familiar with ants knows they store their young underground, safe from harm. To find their eggs, you'll need to find an anthill. One of these can be found not far from the player's starting location, in an area of dry grass. It's recommended players bring torches along for the journey. There are multiple levels to an anthill, and things get very dark very fast. On top of the eggs, the anthills are good locations for finding quartzite, a valuable crafting material. Make sure to bring a hammer.

There are many worker ants around and in anthills, but they won't bother players unless bothered first. Soldier ants, on the other hand, will slaughter anyone who gets too close. Two of them usually patrol an anthill, and must be dealt with. They can be fought, although they're pretty tough enemies early on. It's recommended to kill a lesser ant first and go in with an Ant Club. If stealth is the preferred method, try crafting some Ant Armor. On top of ant parts, players will need materials like woven fiber to finish the set. Once completed, players can sneak right past ants easily. Wasp armor can also help players sneak past.

That's it! Once inside the anthill, avoid soldiers and workers as much as possible. Grab the eggs where they lie, and don't be afraid to descend deep into the hill. The ants keep most of the eggs at deeper levels, so going down will often yield more eggs. If there are no more to be found, don't worry, they respawn (or just spawn in this case) eventually. Take a trip to an anthill today and find out why Grounded is already a Steam success.

Grounded is available in Early Access on PC and Xbox One.
