Who is Resident Evil Resistance Character Alex Wesker?

The Resident Evil series has been running for nearly 23 years, with more than two dozen games featuring a huge number of characters. One of these characters, Alex Wesker, has just been confirmed as a playable mastermind in Resident Evil Resistance, but some fans may be having some difficulty remembering who she is.

For fans who don't know or have forgotten, Alex Wesker was an antagonist in Resident Evil: Revelations 2 which was released in 2015. While her name may suggest that she is a relative of Albert Wesker, that's not quite right. Her real name is unknown as she was taken from her parents at an early age as part of the Wesker Project- which Albert Wesker was also part of. The two characters were close, though, and held important roles in Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. Alex Wesker was a member of the Umbrella Intelligence Division while Albert Wesker was a virologist.

Alex Wesker was also close to Umbrella Pharmaceuticals CEO Oswell Spencer, a character who has also been confirmed as a playable mastermind in Resident Evil Resistance. There is a huge amount of lore to get into with Alex Wesker and Oswell Spencer's relationship as he gave her the power to build a lab on Sonido de Tortuga Island. However, as Resident Evil Resistance isn't canon, it's unlikely that Capcom will offer any more information about this is the multiplayer mode.

The character also spent years on Sushestvovanie Island where she began to work on the Uroboros Virus and kept on working on the t-Phobos Virus. Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Resistance will have several maps so it's possible that it will create one for the island.

There are so many Resident Evil characters that fans love to hate, such as Ada Wong and Resident Evil 4's Ashley Graham. Alex Wesker isn't one of them though, unless fans have a special enthusiasm for those who were experimented on for the Wesker Project. For many fans, she's just not on their radar, her mastermind gameplay in Resident Evil Resistance could give fans a reason to love her and her cunning ways.

Capcom is rumored to have big plans for the Resident Evil series. The rumored Resident Evil TV series at Netflix is likely to move away from canon and give fans some new characters to love or hate. Leaks have also suggested that Capcom is developing Resident Evil 8, and this could answer some questions that fans have about the ending of Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil 3 will launch on April 3, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
