Besides its exciting yet brief trailer provided to us at E3, and a Q&A session with Miyazaki, we've yet to see any news since then. While we wait for more details on anything at all, including some gameplay, we can at least go over the five New Features we know of and five features we expect to see when it releases.

10 A Brand New World

Most From Software games involve a world and setting that's unique and distinct from the rest asides from Dark Souls 3 set in the same world as the first, the world and environment each time changes to never feel stale.

And like these games, we expect to see a brand new world for us to immerse ourselves in with a distinct feeling from the rest. From Software manages to outdo themselves with each new game they release in terms of aesthetic and immersion, and we can't wait to see what new world they've crafted for us this time.

9 The Involvement Of George R. R. Martin

It's not every day George R. R. Martin himself is announced to help write the lore and world design for a video game, yet From Software and Miyazaki managed to do just that. George R. R. Martin is known most for his creation of A Song of Ice and Fire books, which were adapted to the famous hit series Game Of Thrones.

With him on the team in collaboration with Miyazaki, a man fond of famously vague storytelling, we wonder if the narrative of Elden Ring will remain as cryptic as other titles or more fleshed out. Although George R. R. Martin is known to help with mainly the lore and world-building, so things may not change drastically.

8 New And Innovative Ideas

One thing Miyazaki is known for is his love of creating new ideas and not sticking to the same thing constantly. From Software is also known to push innovative ideas on already established formula, mainly design and gameplay-wise.

Such can be seen from Bloodborne with its vastly different combat style and speed to Dark Souls. We expect nothing less from Elden Ring as well, since it's going to be the biggest From Software game so far; it's only natural for it to be filled with tons of new ideas and features.

7 A Dark Plotline

Similar to other titles under From Software's belt, Elden Ring is to have a dark story. It clearly being a Dark Fantasy game and all. The trailer itself gives off the vibe alone, showing off ominous music and visuals as well as a red sky amidst a war of sorts, featuring characters with severed limbs.

The narrator of the trailer also gives off an impression of panic and hopelessness as the world has been thrown off its balance. And the characters shown don't seem to be enjoying themselves either. This isn't a surprise though, as all of the modern From Software games sets a dark and depressing tone, so why should Elden Ring be any different?

6 A Dedicated Online System

Something we miss from the earlier games not seen in the latest title Sekiro, is the presence of a dedicated online system for us to enjoy, when not on the main story progression. An online system is something to help players immerse themselves in the new world provided to them in Elden Ring.

Being able to visit other player's world, duel each other, and collaborate would be an excellent return, especially if From Software's open-world systems are well crafted. So we expect the online systems to be better off even better quality than the rest, while also bringing the unique charm we're used to.

5 An Open-World Setting

Miyazaki confirmed that Elden Ring would be a traditional Open world title, A first for the developers. He also confirmed players would be given a chance to explore many areas far and wide. From castles to underground dungeons, allowing us to transverse them individually without having to access them through menus.

Miyazaki also made sure to note that "Elden Ring is to be the biggest title yet in terms of sheer volume and will be ripe for exploration". "If I were to put aside the world full of fresh stimulus thanks to our collaboration with Mr. Martin, I would have to say the biggest difference is it being open world," Miyazaki stated. That being said, an open-world From Software game is something we can't wait to see implemented.

4 More Unique Bosses

Something we can all agree on is the sheer amount of quality bosses From Software provides in all their games. These bosses are often well designed and aim to test the player's patience and skill in a variety of ways. Most bosses, though hard, are fun to fight against, exhilarating to defeat, and oh so satisfying.

Something we can all look forward to is a return of that formula in Elden Ring as with a new world, comes the possibility for new challenges to test our skills yet again.

3 Norse Mythology

From interviews of Miyazaki himself, we are given the impression that Elden Ring will be based somewhat on Norse mythology. The inclusion of new mythology will be a rather refreshing change of pace, as it will allow more inspirations both gameplay and narrative-wise.  We could see all-new systems, deities, and even weapons because of this.

There is no limit to the number of things that can be done with mythology so vast and full of untapped potential, especially with a writer such as George R. R. Martin helping craft the lore and world-building.

2 Choosing From Multiple Endings

One of the hallmarks of From Software titles is allowing the player to choose how to end their journey with multiple options. Though most of the time, the options are quite simplistic and limited. Usually, they range from the good, bad, and neutral endings, having some variations between them.

This time, however, Elden Ring presents an excellent opportunity to provide players with drastically different ways to choose how they end their journeys. With a new setting comes a chance for innovation in narration. After all, not all decisions are black and white.

1 The Return Of Customization

Another thing we missed from the critically acclaimed Sekiro last year is the multitude of customization options, which has become a staple of From Software games. Thankfully, it's confirmed in Elden Ring we will have the freedom to customize our characters however we want—ranging from face, hair, body, and more. As Miyazaki stated; "Similar to the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring allows players to design and control their own unique character. As I said earlier, this title puts a heavy focus on RPG elements, and we thought this approach would best suit that focus."

With that being said, we can't wait to see the various wild and snazzy fashion fans will provide when the game comes out, whenever that is.
