American actor Lance Reddick has starred in all manner of television shows, movies, and video games since starting his career in the late 90s. Some of his more recognizable roles listed on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) include Phillip Broyles in J.J. Abrams' horror drama Fringe, hotel manager Charon in the John Wick series, and Commander Zavala in Bungie's Destiny and Destiny 2.
While being interviewed to promote the release of Amazon Prime's Bosch Season 6 and a number of other upcoming roles by IGN's Destiny-focused show Fireteam Chat on YouTube, Reddick was asked to read some lore items and related paraphernalia from the series of multiplayer first-person shooters. After he read the Grimoire description for Gjallardoodles, a Dawning holiday gift recipe specifically given to Zavala, Reddick read the lore-based flavor text for Spicy Ramen from the official Destiny cookbook.
That recipe in particular was one of a number of pieces from Victoria Rosenthal's Destiny: The Official Cookbook published by IGN on April 15, and Reddick reading it out in Zavala's voice was how Fireteam Chat ended the show uploaded Friday. Throughout the 25-minute interview leading up to it he gave his insight on other gaming questions, letting the world know about his history playing Halo and Mortal Kombat, that his favorite class in Destiny is Warlock, and that he frequently hears people recite the "Cabal on Mars" monologue.
While Gjallardoodles in particular are specific to a Destiny 2 event that comes around the holiday season, the developers at Bungie are still putting out new content for their long-running title. Recently the studio unveiled more details about the Olympics-styled Guardian Games event coming soon which will offer players a handful of special themed rewards.
Another subject that comes up during the interview is the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, particularly what kinds of shows and games would make for good time killers as much of the world self-quarantines in the wake of closures of schools, businesses, and more. Destiny 2 is one good option, of course, but there are plenty of other titles on systems like the PlayStation 4 that also offer a lot of content.
That said, Reddick's interview with Fireteam Chat is also a great way to kill some time, even if it's nowhere near the length of a streaming show or open-ended game. At the very least it gives Destiny and Destiny 2 fans some fun insight into the man behind one of its biggest characters.
Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
