Chris Redfield has been an integral part of the Resident Evil franchise sine its early days. He has also gone under numerous redesigns, a source of humor for fans. With the character set to return for Resident Evil: Village, it's a great time to scour the internet for the funniest memes surrounding the legendary hero.
The footage shown so far of his part in the upcoming title is incredibly mysterious, and paints him as an antagonist. Whatever the sequel has in store for Chris, fans are confident it will be terrifying, As funny as some of these memes are, they will do little to comfort gamers while playing the survival horror franchise.
10 Claire Vs. Ada
A running theme through these memes is Chris's insistence on Leon procreating with his sister, Claire. Leon is fully enamored with Ada Wong, however, despite her constant betrayals. Chris has a point, though. Claire is a sure thing, and probably has some feelings for Leon too, considering their shared experience escaping Raccoon City in Resident Evil 2. Like most people, though, Leon is more interested in someone who is bad for him.
9 Those Green Herbs Sure Make Them Hungry
In the franchise, Green Herbs are traditionally used for restoring health. It may be a tired joke to imply that Green Herbs are another smokable substance, but the gag has new life when one thinks about Chris indulging in it. Being a BSAA agent, Chris would most certainly abstain from what was then an illegal substance, especially while on a mission.
8 The Hardest Decision
Resident Evil 7's endings boil down to a binary choice to save one of two people. The decision is quite easy, and only one leads to a happy ending. However, if one were playing as Leon, then choosing between Ada and Claire would be a true challenge. Chris threatening Leon to pick Claire might make the decision a little easier, however.
7 Chew It Over
Chris has some anger issues, but he fortunately uses them for good, like when he punches a boulder in Resident Evil 5 to save Sheva from Wesker. This meme suggests eating a Snickers in order to calm his nerves. It does not necessarily soothe his anger, though, but instead transforms him into Resident Evil 5 Chris. Perhaps his redesigns are all a product of the lack of Snickers in his diet.
6 Boulder Cosplay
If there is one costume one should not be wearing when they meet Chris Redfield, it is a boulder. The dude literally punches one out of the way while in a volcano fighting his arch-nemesis.
This poor kid just wanted to dress up as a boulder, but Chris habitually knocked his lights out thinking he was in the way of him saving someone's life. Given the character's physique, it looks like the victim will not be cosplaying again anytime soon.
5 Now It's Starting To Get Weird
Heavily obsessing over a sibling's potential mate is weird, and it may be a reason Claire and Chris do not talk often. If Chris is so concerned with continuing the Redfield bloodline, why doesn't he do it himself? Maybe there is more to the story fans don't know. Perhaps Claire had bad relationships in her past and her brother is simply concerned she will make more mistakes in the future.
4 Which Came First, The Rifle Or The Egg?
Inventory has always been a huge part of the Resident Evil franchise. Most fans agree upon Resident Evil 4 having the best method of storing and managing items. Resident Evil 5's is simplified and makes players think even more carefully about the items they carry with them. However, it does not make sense for Chris to be unable to pick up a measly egg because his pockets are full of rifles.
3 Hey, Everyone Makes Mistakes
If the drama in the Resident Evil games was at least a tad more sincere and better executed, it would be wholly inappropriate to joke about Chris losing most of his squad. But the acting is so hammy, it is difficult to take any of it seriously. The series took a turn with the remakes, however, where the voice performances are significantly improved and the story feels put together with real thought.
2 The Two Chrises
Fans cannot get enough of how different Chris looks throughout the series. Imagine if the two actors side by side played the same character in direct sequels. Viewers would not buy it for one second, yet gamers have no choice but to accept it. Perhaps an explanation for his varied looks lies in the narrative. What's weirder is how his Resident Evil: Village look is more akin to his design from Resident Evil 5.
1 That's One Way To Matchmake
Chris in the debut Resident Evil: Village trailer shockingly kills Mia, Ethan's wife. It is currently unknown why, but it makes one think the game will involve Ethan hunting down Chris. If all he wanted was for Ethan to hook up with Claire, then he sure went about it in a terrible way. Ethan certainly will not listen to Chris after he shot Mia. Of course, the real reason for Chris' action will probably be more shocking and surprising than any fan could imagine.
