Bulbasaur & 9 Other Pokémon That Make The Original Red & Blue Games Too Easy

All gamers love a good Pokémon game, especially when it comes to the originals. The games Pokémon Red and Pokemon Blue are fan favorites because they incorporate classic Pokémon fun. Players meet up with Professor Oak and he explains that it is too dangerous to travel without a Pokémon. Players then choose from the famous three starters Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur.

They begin with the Pokémon of their choice and battle other Pokémon throughout their travels including Professor Oak's grandson's Pokémon. It is always fun to battle with Pokémon but players usually expect challenges. The Pokémon Blue and Red games have some Pokémon that make playing the game quite easy. Let's take a look at the Pokémon that make both of these games a breeze.

10 Bulbasaur

It's hard for players to resist an adorable dinosaur when choosing their first starter. However, Bulbasaur gives players a rather unfair advantage. Bulbasaur is a grass and poison type Pokémon which makes it a tough opponent for rock, water, and ground Pokémon. It also takes on other grass types! Bulbasaur can go long stretches without eating any food. This is because of the large bulb on its back stores a lot of energy. Many of the first Pokémon encounters that players face in the game are no match for Bulbasaur's tackle and vine-whip. When it evolves, it becomes even more powerful. Opponents beware!

9 Dewgong

Players usually stumble across Dewgong later in Red and Blue, but when they do it can take on almost anything. Since this white seel is a dual-type, it can battle with both water and ice. In addition, it can travel through the coldest weather conditions and water. Its dual attacks cause a lot of damage for both ground types and Pokémon in the air. There is really no escaping this powerful seel especially if players spend time teaching it multiple duel attacks.

8 Ekans

Snakes give almost everyone a scare especially if that snake is Ekans! This Pokémon is quite popular in the Red game and gives opponents a run for their money. Ekans grows longer and longer the older it gets. Its Poison Sting and speed defeat other Pokémon in the blink of an eye. Ekans is difficult to battle against because it attacks in small doses so the opponent can barely fight back. This hit points that players receive with Ekans' poisonous attacks is very high. Sit back and watch Ekans take on the opponent!

7 Gengar

Ghosts are spooky but Gengar is even spookier. Opponents get chills the closer this dark ghost/poison type Pokémon gets. It even curses them if they aren't careful! Gangar is extremely powerful because it has a lot of hit points. Players can also teach it hypnosis techniques such as Confuse Ray, Toxic, and Sleep. Gengar takes its time when fighting because the more it attacks with Toxic, the more damage the opponent Pokémon faces. Furthermore, Pokémon that are dual types often have more weaknesses. However, Gengar becomes stronger the more players teach him. Pokémon should flee whenever they see Gengar.

6 Jynx

Don't let the thrusting hips of Jynx fool opponents because it packs a punch. This ice and psychic Pokémon is very good at trapping opponents and performing damage. When players teach Jynx psychic moves, it uses them instinctively against every opponent.

In addition, its ice attacks are no joke. Imagine sleeping and then feel suddenly ice pounding down? Hit points galore! Players who have this sleeper Pokémon always shock their opponents.

5 Ninetails

The aesthetically pleasing Pokémon Ninetails is beautiful but deadly. This firey Pokémon is a tough match for opponents because of its hit points and speed. It's Fire Blast and Flamethrower moves cause serious damage to other Pokémon. It is very difficult to fight back against Ninetails. It has the typical fire type weaknesses against rock, ground, and water types. However, players can train Ninetails to learn Dig and Toxic which gives it more diverse attacks. Ninetails is very impressive and opponents don't stand a chance.

4 Pikachu

It's not a Pokémon game without Pikachu. The electric mouse is always willing to take on opponents head-first. Well, in its case tail-first. It is a very popular Pokémon in the Red and Blue games. This is because there are so many that players can catch. So catch 'em all! Pikachu is feisty and is not shy of its signature moves Thundershock and Thunderwave among other attacks. Pickachu causes a lot of damage to its opponents with its advanced skills. Players can also teach it many other attacks that are unfair matches for opponents.

3 Squirtle

This odd-looking but lovable water Pokémon is a strong starter. Some argue that Squirtle is the best one! Not only is Squirtle easy for beginners to fight with but it takes on various opponents. Squirtle defeats poison, grass, and fire Pokémon no problem. Hydro Pump and Water Gun are only two moves that are exceptional for a little starter Pokémon. Players who have Squirtle should treat him very well and feel proud.

2 Tauros

Even though its normal, Tauros is abnormally powerful. It does not stop until it bulldozes into something and causes damage to its opponent. The key to all battles is persistence which Tauros has down pat according to its flawless stats.

It strongly attacks, defends, has great hit points, and high speed making it extremely difficult to weaken. Players can teach Tauros moves such as Earthquake, Skull Bash, and Blizzard. Sounds terrifying! Any opponent should be nervous before fighting Tauros.

1 Zapdos

Any Pokémon with the word "zap" in its name must be threatening right? Well, Zapdos definitely lives up to its name. This electric/flying bird Pokémon is legendary and is an overall powerhouse. The only disadvantage this Pokémon has is that there is one Zapdos in the whole game. Therefore, any opponent who has Zapdos is at a ridiculously high advantage. This Pokémon literally causes lightning showers on the ground below. It also has very strong stats for attacks and speed which are arguably the most important stats to possess. Players' opponents likely don't survive Zapods' Thundershock, but it also has moves such as Thunder and Drill Peck. Yikes!
