Destiny 2 Details How Armor Glows Change for Solstice of Heroes This Year

In the latest This Week at Bungie, the Destiny 2 developer laid out a roadmap for what is coming in the upcoming Solstice of Heroes event, set to start on August 11th. Along with new challenges for players to participate in, Bungie has also outlined what the players can expect to earn during the event, including a glowing set of legendary armor.

Of course, Solstice of Heroes is nothing new for Destiny 2, and neither are the glowing armor sets that unlock as players complete high-level activities from across the game. However, it looks like this year's Solstice of Heroes might have the most customizable gear as well as the most difficult challenges so far, requiring the best gear in Season of Arrivals to survive.

Following the lead of previous years, Solstice of Heroes will start players off with a Rare armor set that they can eventually build up into Majestic Legendary armor. However, the quest doesn't end here, as players can continue to complete some of Destiny 2's highest-level activities, such as Nightfall Ordeal and Pit of Heresy activities, in order to fully upgrade the gear to a Magnificent set. Completing these activities will add a shattered white glow to the players' armor, as well as opening up the ability to purchase a new Universal Ornament at Eververse.

Similar to how Solstice armor has worked in the past, the new Universal Ornament will cause any armor that it is worn on to glow with the element of the subclass the player has equipped, including a fourth color when Beyond Light brings Stasis to Destiny 2. Additionally, since the color change is available as a Universal Ornament, it can be equipped to any Armor 2.0 gear, not just the Solstice armor available through the event. These ornaments can also be purchased with either Silver or Bright Dust, meaning that players can choose to earn the new glow through gameplay or simply buy it outright.

Looking at these new glowing ornaments, and especially the way that they are intended to continue working with future Destiny 2 armor updates, they seem well worth the effort to unlock. Unlike the Solstice of Heroes events from previous years, the rewards seem to extend far beyond a shiny new suit of gear and is looking to create a new look for players to become attached to through upcoming seasons. It almost makes fans wonder how Bungie intends to keep topping these awesome armor sets in the events coming with Beyond Light.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
