World of Warcraft Update Lets Players Earn Headless Horseman's Hearthstones

It's that spooky time of year again, and World of Warcraft players can access the Halloween-themed event that goes from October 13 to November 1 known as Hallow's End 2020. One popular item will once again be available in this event: the Headless Horseman's Hearthstone.

World of Warcraft events often present themed opportunities for players to access different features and item rewards, and some events return yearly like Hallow's End has for the past few years. The event stretches past the one day that Halloween usually encompasses in countries around the world, and offers new dailies and vendors that use a currency known as Tricky Treats.

As many WoW players will know, Hearthstones teleport the user to the location the Hearthstone is bound to, and some have thematic aesthetics like the Headless Horseman's. The item was first available when WoW's fastest-selling expansion yet, Battle for Azeroth, released in 2018. This Hearthstone is available through the Headless Horseman Challenge or events in Razor Hill and Goldshire.

Hallow's End is a celebration of the Forsaken and how they freed themselves from the Lich King's tyranny, so it has a major place in World of Warcraft lore. Also, given the oncoming Scourge invasion promised in the lead-up to Shadowlands, this event is more timely than ever. Hallow's End presents a lower-stake challenge for players than the Scourge or the Lich King, instead pitting players against the Headless Horseman as they go trick-or-treating like many children traditionally do at this time of year.

Since Shadowlands, the next WoW expansion, was delayed recently, players don't have any new content to look forward to right now other than events. Of course, the Headless Horseman's Hearthstone is one of many items and features that are returning to Hallow's End, meaning that this event isn't exactly completely new or unique. However, many people rely on and look forward to repeated events, as they're something players can look forward to having fun with year after year. It's not such a bad thing for a popular item with cool effects to make its way back to the game.

Luckily, players are able to download the Shadowlands pre-patch, so beside Hallow's End, players can access the new Level 50 cap, item and stat adjustments, a new leveling zone known as Exile's Reach, and more character customization options. While this isn't nearly as much content as Shadowlands promises to offer, these new mechanics changes, WoW dailies, and the trick-or-treating activities in Hallow's End can still keep some players occupied.
