Call of Duty: Warzone Players Are Not Fans Of The Black Ops Cold War Weapons

Call of Duty: Warzone has integrated with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as Season 1 launches. The merger adds in a ton of new content for the Call of Duty: Warzone community, but the impact of the merge is different than fans originally anticipated.

Players booted up Call of Duty: Warzone to find 30 new weapons in their armory. These weapons come from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and many fans believed that these guns would be unbalanced compared to the current options. Past experience has taught the Call of Duty: Warzone community that new weapons are strong, but that appears to not be true with the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War collection.

The developers decided to bring the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons to Call of Duty: Warzone using their original attachments and stat types. These weapons are balanced differently than Modern Warfare or Warzone guns as their default stats are dramatically weaker than the current meta. To make matters worse, the weapon attachments also can't compete, so even fully upgraded guns are struggling to take on base-tier Warzone weapons. Fans are shocked at the result, as many expected the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons to be deliberately better in an effort to provoke Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War purchases among the game's community.

Almost every fan theory had placed the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons above the Warzone meta. From the time-to-kill found in the game itself to the marketing opportunity that pushing these weapons would provide, the community is shocked that the direct opposite is what they have received.

While the new guns will be appearing around Call of Duty: Warzone's map as ground loot, players, have a particular advantage if they can secure a loadout drop. On a one-to-one basis, the guns are statistically better, which is a fact only known due to both games providing gun stats in the armory. One major difference is that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons do not have access to Call of Duty: Warzone's strongest attachment: the Monolithic Suppressor.

This doesn't mean that players can't win with the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons. New guns like the MAC-10 SMG and Krig-6 Assault rifle can be powerful in most gunfights. Still, for only a few of the 30 new weapons to be viable shows an immediate balance difference between the two development teams.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
