Fans of the Monster Hunter series can now purchase a life-sized stuffed animal of the palamute companion from the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise. Unfortunately, it does seem to be Japan-exclusive at the moment and comes with a bit of a hefty price tag.
The palamute was first shown off on September 17 of this year, during the Nintendo Direct in which Capcom announced Monster Hunter Rise. The series has, to this point, been known for having palico companions, which are cat-like companions available to assist the player in hunts. Rise marks the first time a dog-like companion will be made available to the player, though the palico option is still available to any player who wishes to remain with their "felyne" friends.
The plush itself is available on Capcom's Japanese EShop for 11,000 yen, which comes out to approximately $110. It's certainly not cheap, but given the fact that the plush is near life-sized at 55 to 60cm/21 to 24in long, it does make some sense. Each piece is also handmade, so Capcom notes that each plush may be slightly different from one another. The plushes will begin to ship out on March 26, 2021 to coincide with the launch of the game.
For those who don't live in Japan, don't want to try and import it, or simply don't want to plunk down the cost of the plush, but still want some palamute goodness in their life, an amiibo figurine is still in the pipeline. Fans certainly can't snuggle up to it while they're playing the new game, but it will most likely grant you some bonuses in-game that fans aren't going to get from this massive plush, as cute as it may be.
Monster Hunter Rise will be released on Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.
