The Amazing Spider-Man has a new suit, and it is a large departure from what fans may be used to. The new costume debuts on March 10, 2021, in the Amazing Spider-Man #61.
Designed by Dustin Weaver, the new look is very different than Spider-Man's normal red and blue suit. The white, blue, and gold/orange color scheme is what sets this suit apart from most, giving it an almost electric look. Of course, the blue color scheme down the side and thigh of Spider-Man is normal, but the gold/orange trim really stands out, as does the pop of the white. The bug-like eyes are rather different as well. Instead of the wide white approach, Weaver gives Spidey orange and white pupils. It certainly doesn't look like a traditional suit from the Spider-Man movies.
The new suit is attention-grabbing, almost looking like an alternate unlockable costume in a video game. In fact, it could easily find its way into Marvel's Spider-Man for the PS4 or Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a game that already has some fantastic suits, like the Spider-Cat suit or the costume based on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated film. It would not at all be surprising to see Insomniac make this new Amazing Spider-Man suit unlockable as DLC or a free piece of content in the near future.
The new suit is certainly unique, and time will tell where it falls within the favorite Spidey suits of all time, within films, games, comics, and more. Regardless, it is very interesting for Weaver to think outside the box with the design, and Spider-Man will likely go back to a more traditional design in short order.
