Someone Is Developing A VR Mod For Cyberpunk 2077 | Game Rant

The inconsistency of Cyberpunk 2077 has been one many gamers have honed in on since the launch of the game. From tons of content being cut before launch to the overwhelmingly poor last-gen console experience, the Cyberpunk 2077 community is split between appreciating the game for what it is and demanding it be fixed and the content restored.

Since its release, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a host of mods from the community designed to improve the player experience, or at the very least, make it extremely entertaining. While some player mods are gimmicky and not meant to be utilized for long periods of time, others set out to genuinely improve and enhance the Night City experience. A Redditor, one of many gamers who had anticipated the game for years, took it upon themselves to take it to that next level.

Reddit user Nexen4, a video editor and engineer, had the awesome idea to utilize a program called VORPX to convert Cyberpunk 2077's visuals to VR. Faithful followers of the game will recall that CDPR addressed some issues with implementing VR into Night City, even receiving a full dev-kit, but eventually, the company decided to cut it out entirely. Nexen4 fully intends to preserve the immersiveness of Night City with this mod, which promises players a ground-level view of Cyberpunk 2077.

Utilizing VORPX isn't the only part of Nexen4's elaborate Cyberpunk 2077 setup. The Reddit user further revealed in an exchange with other Redditors that they're also producing a VR locomotion device, preemptively titled "the VR chair." Although they mention that the device is missing its back portion, it's clear that Nexen is enjoying finally getting a chance to play the game the way it was intended.

Nexen goes into more details in the comment section, revealing plans for a solution to inevitable nausea. Supposedly, he and his team are in the process of adapting neurological activity between the Somatosensory and Motor cortex, which would be triggered by the player while using the device. In the words of the engineer himself, the entire procedure is just "a simple brain hack."

Technology and hacking are an integral part of Cyberpunk 2077, so it's pretty awesome to see a fellow gamer embracing the true spirit of the Cyberpunk genre. Although the VR chair and official implementation of Nexen4's specific profile aren't available to the wider public yet, those curious to try it out for themselves and in possession of a VR headset can head over to the official VORPX website.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
