There are quite a few different mushrooms for players to find in Stardew Valley as the seasons go by. While some can be used in helpful cooking recipes, others can reduce players' energy just by eating it.
Stardew Valley players may find themselves needing Red Mushrooms for bundles and a helpful crafting recipe. This mushroom can be found in a variety of places, with players just needing to know where to look beforehand.
While Red Mushrooms don't provide any benefits by themselves, they can be used in the crafting recipe for a Life Elixir. This crafting item requires a Red Mushroom, a Purple Mushroom, a Morel, and a Chanterelle. Drinking it will give players 200 energy and top off their health.
The first and easiest way to find a Red Mushroom is by selecting the mushroom option toward the beginning of the game when Demetrius asks to convert the players' cave. This will make every kind of mushroom spawn in the cave for players to take freely, with Red Mushrooms being included.
Another early-game decision that can make mushroom gathering easier is by selecting the Forest Farm Map when starting a new game. This will cause various mushrooms including Red Mushrooms to spawn around the farm during the fall season.
If players didn't choose these early-game options, there are still multiple areas where Red Mushrooms spawn. The first of which is the Mines Dungeon, accessible through the northeast of the map. It can randomly appear as a forage item on multiple floors, with players needing to rely on luck in order to find one. It isn't affected by seasons while in the Mines.
Another location where players can forage for Red Mushrooms is the Secret Woods located in the northwest of Cindersap Forest. Players should note though that the Secret Woods can only be accessed by chopping down the fallen log that's blocking the path. This requires players to use a steel axe or better.
Red Mushrooms have a chance to appear as a foraged item in the Secret Woods in both the summer and fall seasons. It has a much higher chance to spawn in the summer among the Fiddlehead Ferns compared to fall.
A stranger way to get Red Mushrooms is through Mushroom Trees. These trees have a very rare chance to appear on players' farms in fall and can be planted via Mushroom Tree Seeds. If players use a tapper on these trees, they will produce a variety of mushrooms, including Red Mushrooms.
Stardew Valley is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
